Muscat Club Safari, Grand Hyatt Muscat (Sept-March 2010)
It’s been awhile since Earth Beat has rocked out in the desert and man is this place ever a palace!! Literally, the hotel looks like a castle! The pool overlooks the Gulf of Oman and the beach stretches out for what seems like forever, it’s truly a wonderful place to be.
We began our tour here right after Ramadan and WOW were the locals ready to party, we received an amazing welcome and the crowds keep getting bigger and more rowdy. Earth Beat has quickly made their mark on the Muscat music scene and word has spread like wildfire that Safari Club is one hot place to be for a rockin party. We’ve only just begun our 6 month contract, 5 to go and it looks like things are only going to get hotter in the desert! Come check us out if you’re around, we’d love to see you, cheers!
Well here we are at the end of 6 months, it’s time to say goodbye to the Palace that we’ve been calling home and say thank you to all the wonderful Management, staff and friends we’ve made here at Safari Club, The Grill House, Havana Club and of course Copa Cabana. From Oompah bands and Scottish rockers there’s been loads of fun times here in Muscat, thanks for partying with us, hope to see you all again soon, cheers!
For current pics and videos of where we are and what we’re doing check out our MULTIMEDIA section or check us out on Facebook-EARTH BEAT
Vacation (July-Sept)
Everyone loves a vacation! This was a very special one as Brad and Pamela got married in Winnipeg, Canada. It was a great wedding and lots of fun. The rest of the band spent time in Bangkok, Malaysia, Italy, Taiwan and Canada. Gotta love the time off to check out the world. Now...time to get ready for a 6 month gig in Muscat, Oman. Hope to see you there.
Jakarta: B.A.T.S.,Shangri-La (Feb 23rd-July 18 2009)
It was great to be back in Jakarta! Our first time playing in BATS was AWESOME. We got to meet some of the nicest and craziest people ever. Every night was a wild party and we loved to hang out with everyone. It was a special treat to see our good friend Ted all the time in the club for some laughs and never ending trays of tequila! Certainly a highlight of our time in Jakarta was our day trip to Krakatau volcano with a bunch of members from all the other bands in town. Sadly, we had to say farewell to our singer and friend, Filipa. We wish her the best with her new band. We're all excited to come back to BATS in the near future...get the tequila ready!!!
Bangkok: Spasso, Grand Hyatt Erawan (Sept 22nd 2008-Jan 24 2009)
Back to the land of smiles! Spasso is truly one of our favorite gigs to play. The crowds are great and the Spasso team rocks. It was trial by fire for our 2 newest members, Filipa and Karim, who showed up the 1st night and were fantastic.
A big thanks to all of our friends, old and new, for making our stay here as amazing as ever. A special shout out to Rohan and Jeb for the Tiger tour…and all the wobbly nights!
It was a wild Christmas and New Years here with all the crazy decorations and parties. And..no snow.
We can’t wait to come back and see you all again.
Singapore: Brix, Grand Hyatt Singapore (April 2 2008-July 14 2008)
Wow! Singapore! It’s been a few years since we’ve been here and there’s been a few changes, not only to the city but from the last week in Taipei to getting here our band has changed. Darwin has left the building and we’ve brought in Nicola to add a new dynamic to the band. Our first month here in Brix had it’s share of obstacles before we could really get going. First we had to get settled in, then there’s working out sound issues (all normal parts of the job) but then it happened, the GREAT thing we’d been waiting for (only it came a bit early) Enzo and Christina had a beautiful baby boy!! Welcome Fabiano!!!!! Enzo got the call Sunday morning and flew out for the week, THANK YOU VERY MUCH Kassim for doing such a great job on short notice, we really appreciate it. Once Enzo (Daddy) returned we quickly got things rolling and we’ve had a blast so far. We’ve got just over a month left before taking some well deserved time off but who knows what events will unfold in that time… stay tuned for more yada yada’s as they come.
Taipei: Ziga Zaga, Grand Hyatt Taipei (Dec 4 2007-March 31 2008)pei:
So let’s see… it’s coming up on Christmas and New Years, we’re still on the road, where else would we be this time of the year but Taipei and Ziga Zaga!! What an event filled tour this was. Aside from the regular parties that happen along the way and of course Christmas and New Years celebrations watching the fireworks off of Taipei 101, Brad’s parents came out for a visit (family visiting- always good), The band and some of the staff celebrated with Enzo and Christina at their co-bachelor party. Enzo and Christina were married and had a big party inside the Grand Hyatt which was amazing! Loads of food and friends, the best way to celebrate a happy occasion! The band was invited to the Ziga Zaga staffs year end party where we watched them do some crazy “raffle-type” game which really had to be witnessed to be explained, there was the Chinese New Year celebration and oh yeah Brad and Pamela finally got engaged.
We’d like to thank the staff and management of the Grand Hyatt Taipei for their friendship, faith and support during this tour as with all the good things there were a few bumps in the road and it’s always easier to get through when you’ve got people you can count on to help you over those bumps. Of course a BIG thank you to everyone who came and partied with us in the club each night, to all our friends in Taipei, we wish you all the best and we look forward to seeing you again in the future! Cheers!
Kuala Lumpur : Zeta Bar, Hilton Kuala Lumpur (Sept 3 2007-Dec1 2007)
Ta Da!!! I told you we’d be back soon, this time around we’re here for a full contract, Pamela has returned and we’re welcoming a new drummer, Stephen Attig to the mix. Once again, Zeta has been a picture of class in welcoming us and we’re happy to be back. The club still is hopping and we’re looking forward to getting it even hotter over Ramadan.
Let’s see last full tour here it was the newly formed INXS and Blondie, this time it was members of the Supremes and Mel Gibson so I think I can honestly say that it’s nice to be here, you never know who you’ll bump into. Apart from celebrity sightings making you feel like a little kid again, the club itself still has a wicked friendly vibe to it. It can be jammed full but you’ll still see almost the entire crowd waving to each other and raising a glass to each other, it’s a pretty unique sight. Speaking of unique sights, let’s not forget Patrick and Derrick, our backup singers “A! A! A! A!” who knew ha-ha.![]()
After a not-so grueling 3 month engagement, because it’s always a pleasure to be here, it’s time to say so long for awhile, not goodbye cause of that wickedly awesome Face Book ha-ha and I’m sure we’ll see everyone again in the future. But till we return thank you everyone in Kuala Lumpur for your continued support and friendship, it means a lot to us all and we miss you already so one last time let’s all raise a glass and “Gumbay!!!!!!”
Jakarta: Tigah Puluh, Le Meridien (June 1 2007-Sept 1 2007)
Welcome to Jakarta Earth Beat! Members of the band have been here several years ago but this is our first official visit as Earth Beat and we’re extremely excited to see what this tour will bring. The club, Tiga Puluh, has an interesting design that looks pretty amazing when you first get in. You go down an escalator to see a large mirrored room with a pool table, some leather couches and chairs and a long bar as well as several big screen TV’s to showcase whatever the big game for the night is. Then you walk into another room to see the stage surrounded by the bar (not a bad idea since band folk generally like to be close to their bar) It definitely made for some interesting nights that’s for sure.
It was here in Jakarta where we actually found Clamato juice!!! I know not a big deal to most people but you can’t have a Caesar without clamato and usually it can’t be found anywhere but Canada sooooo… hence the big deal ha-ha. Half way through our stay here Pamela returned to the band after the successful run of Oliver and we’d like to thank Marion Norris for her contribution to the band while she was on board and Pamela was away. We’d also like to thank Gary for helping us out while Neb was ill. We’d also like to thank the Hotel Staff at Le Meridian for being so kind to us during our stay and of course the wonderful bar staff in club Tiga Puluh! Every night was an adventure and we’re glad we got to spend them with you and all of our friends that came to the club and supported us during our stay! Cheers and until next time keep on rocking!
We’d also ESPECIALLY like to thank our long time drummer Nebojsa Matovic for his hard work and dedication to the band over the years and wish him all the best in his upcoming musical endeavors. It’s been a pleasure working with and sharing this wild ride of a job with you over the years, here’s to Neb Mojito-vic! Ha-ha, all the best to you Cheers!
Kuala Lumpur : Zeta Bar, Hilton Kuala Lumpur (May 1 2007-June 1 2007)
This turned out perfect for us, Pamela stayed back home in Edmonton to do the Citadel’s production of Oliver, which did very well, and we fit nicely into a one month gig in one of our favorite places to visit. Of course it’s always great to re-visit places we’ve been before but even better when you’re bringing in someone to fill a spot on a team that has been around as long as we have and who may feel a little intimidated. We’d like to thank the Hilton Hotel staff, management and the patrons of Zeta Bar for their extremely gracious welcome to Marion in making her feel right at home from the start.
It really was just a short stay this time around, one month flies by but fortunately we’ll be returning very soon. So thank you Zeta Bar and everyone in the Hilton Kuala Lumpur for your support and friendship, we appreciate it and look forward to our next visit here already.
Time Off:
After a year or more of touring it’s always great to get some time off and this time around we actually had 2 months to relax which was well deserved and MUCH needed. We’re very lucky to be playing music all over the world but just like everyone else we miss our family and friends and so when we get a chance to go home it’s always welcomed with open arms. To be immersed in a hockey season, drink Canadian beer and see familiar places and people was just what the doctor ordered.
Everyone in the band had their own type of vacation be it on a tropical island or back home, a place to let the brain relax and let the “music” be silent for awhile and what better way to do that then to hit Rosarios for karaoke!!?? Ha-ha yeah, not sure why exactly it is that we love to go and whoop it up at a karaoke bar on our time off but we do and it’s always a blast. Well with all that relaxing out of the way it’s time to get back to work, what’s in store for this next tour???
Taipei: Ziga Zaga, Grand Hyatt Taipei (Nov 4 2006-March 4 2007)
So here we are in Taipei and we’re very excited to return and see our old friends on the staff at the Grand Hyatt Taipei and from Ziga Zaga. But this tour has quite a few other things to look forward to as well. Not only do we have a huge New Year’s party to look forward to, but we have 3 birthdays in the band on this tour and just miss a 4th by a couple of days. Also it will be the last leg of an 11 month tour and some of us will be able to go home for awhile before heading out again for our next adventure. But let’s not get ahead of ourselves here. ![]()
We’ve been here for 2 months now and our response has been fantastic. We’ve met many fellow world travelers we can now happily call friends as they have come and gone, and come again since we’ve been here and throughout the holiday season.
From everyone in Earth Beat we wish you and your family a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!!! We’ll see you in Ziga Zaga in 2007. So it looks like we’ve come to the end of our adventure here in Taipei. Thank you so much to everyone that made our time here so memorable, each of us have so many great stories to share about so many different things here in Taipei so if you want the dish, grab a spoon and ask one of us. To the staff and management of the Grand Hyatt Taipei, all of our friends in Ziga Zaga and of course all of the wonderful guests that have visited night after night, we sincerely thank you for your support and friendship during our stay. We look forward to seeing you all again in the future and until then we wish you all the best, thank you, Earth Beat.
Kuala Lumpur: Zeta Bar, Hilton Kuala Lumpur (Aug 2 2006-Oct 31 2006)
Kuala Lumpur, The Hilton and Earth Beat, yeah I like the sound of that. After a month here in Zeta bar we’ve really found a second home. We’ve experienced some amazing hospitality from everyone at the Hilton, every one in management and all members of the staff have made us feel so welcome and so appreciated that we can’t begin to thank them all enough. On top of the people we work with, the people that come to Zeta bar have welcomed us with open arms, offering anything and everything to make our stay in Malaysia the best it can possibly be. We truly are blessed to meet and work with such wonderful people.![]()
At the club we were lucky enough to host the band INXS' after party and even luckier to actually jam with J.D. Fortune, the singer of INXS on our stage. We had a chance to hang out with the band and get some photos as well.(check the pics section) It’s been a blast so far and it will only get better, so stay tuned to find out what will happen next …
So what happened next you say? Blondie’s what happened next! The Hilton hosted a one night only special performance for the popular 80’s group and we were smack dab in the middle of it! Also we were fortunate enough to have world renowned DJ Claude Challe take the stage in Zeta bar with us for a night that we won’t soon forget. Every night in Zeta bar has been a memorable one, it truly is a great place to be.
We will definitely miss the amazing staff and management team and the fabulous patrons of the club. Thank you ALL SO VERY much Zeta Bar, The Hilton and Kuala Lumpur! We’ve had an extremely awesome time here and we look forward to seeing you all again soon, till then ladies grab a dink and let’s party!!!! (ha-ha reference to a little word goof on stage) See you soon, All the best, Earth Beat.
Guangzhou: BBOSS (April 2006-July 2006)
We've only just begun our stay here in Guangzhou at a club called B-Boss and it's amazing! The staff is great, the club is hopping and there are really friendly people from all around the world that live here and come to the club. We're very lucky to be playing in a club like B-Boss. It's been one of the most welcoming places we've been to date and we really appreciate it.
We'll keep you posted as things progress and new pictures should be available shortly on each band member's page so you can see what's going on, till then cheers! Some of the highlights here in Guangzhou besides the club and the great friends we’ve made here are: The amazing BBQ on the street on the way to our homes (ha-ha thinking with our stomachs) The world cup celebrations that were held everywhere, I mean everywhere! Every single bar, side street shop, everyone had a TV switched on to the games when they were on. Our own B-Boss’s birthday bash was an unforgettable event and we’ve got the video to prove it. We were on T.V, competed in arm wrestling competitions, were approached by model agencies in 7-11’s, had our good friends from the incredible fellow Canadian band Pop Machine make a short visit to prelude their upcoming stint at B-Boss (shameless plug ha-ha) and to top it all off the President of Chivas Regal thanked us for ALL the “Hard Work” we put into this tour ha-ha J.J! We had a crazy night pretty much each and every night here in B-Boss and we’re very thankful for everyone’s tremendous support. We’ll see you all soon, thanks!
Vacation:
Well vacation might be the wrong term but we did have time off. Time enough for us all to visit family and friends at our respective homes in Canada, Italy, Taipei and Bangkok. Each member of the band got a much needed rest to recharge the batteries and gear up for the next tour by simply doing nothing. Sleep, eat, relax, repeat was the name of the game for about 3 weeks from end in Macau to start date in Guangzhou, China. Wow, that's a short write up…well it was a short vacation ha-ha but we're glad we got it.
Macau: Sand's Macau (Dec 2005-March 2006)
If you're a gambler and you're in Asia Macau is the place to go.
There are casinos everywhere you look and if there isn't one there now, there will be in a few months because it's being built. Our stay at club Xanadu in the Sands Casino was an interesting one. We had the pleasure of working with several dance troupes, an Australian, an Indonesian and a Russian group known as the Cappuccino dancers. We miss them a lot and wish them all the best and continued success wherever they travel around the world. To our good friends we made at the club and on the staff, thank you for being there and supporting us it means a lot. Hopefully our paths will cross again someday but till then “bet it all on red!!!!!”
Bangkok: Spasso, Grand Hyatt Erawan (July 2005-Dec 2005)
What can be said about a city as inviting as Bangkok? We’re so happy to be here once again and we’re glad to see so many familiar faces in the club and around the hotel. Words really can’t describe how wonderful this city and the surrounding area is. So we’ll just say that if you ever get the chance you HAVE to visit Bangkok and the rest of Thailand you’ll never forget it.
We’d like to thank the staff and management here at the Grand Hyatt Erawan for their generous hospitality and friendship during our stay. Also a big thank you to everyone in the club who gave us their support and friendship over the last 4 months. Without you we wouldn’t be here and we wouldn’t have been voted best band in Bangkok at the current Bangkok Venue Awards so we can’t thank you enough. We’d like to send all our love to Josh, Charlene and Jada and wish them all the best on Dec.17th, their wedding day!!! We’ll be there in spirit and look forward to seeing you all again soon. We’d also like to take this opportunity to welcome Nebojsa to the family and fun, let the madness begin. Thank you everyone for your continued support and we look forward to seeing you out on the road.
Taipei: Ziga Zaga, Grand Hyatt Taipei (April 4 2005-July 23 2005)
Just over 2 weeks have gone by since leaving Dubai and before we even begin to get into how GREAT Taipei is we have a few announcements:
1) We’d like to congratulate Charlene and Josh on their recent engagement, we love you guys and we’re extremely happy for you.
2) Jada is SOOOOOO adorable! The Earth Beat baby is here, let the spoiling begin!
3) A huge welcome back to Pamela Gordon, welcome back to the family and fun.
Alright now let’s get into the tale of the tape for Taipei, leaving Edmonton we sadly said goodbye to family, friends and of course snow. On the bright side for everyone back home the snow was quickly melting and spring was on its way. Once arriving in Taipei the humidity shot through us like a good ol’ Sambuca, warm and inviting ha-ha. Driving from the airport to the hotel (Grand Hyatt Taipei) was a little bit of a journey but it gave us some time to take in the landscape and atmosphere. Because it was a little bit cloudy it kind of looked like Vancouver back home. There were mountains filled with trees and it at times felt like we were up in Banff or Jasper getting ready to go for a hike or a trip to one of many hot springs but we weren’t. We were heading into a new city to explore and get lost in for the next 4 months.
As we drove up to the entrance of the hotel we couldn’t help but notice the HUGE building right next door to us. Tower 101, the current tallest building in the world casts its shadow on our hotel and dwarfs the not so small Grand Hyatt. Once inside we’re greeted by extremely friendly staff members and a wonderful view that still is hard to describe. So let’s leave the view to your imagination, pretty much picture excellence and there you have it.
So let’s get down to our first week in Ziga Zaga. Some of us have been to Taipei a few years ago and we were happy to see many of our friends from the staff and patrons of Ziga Zaga once again. The club has gone through some renovations but Taipei still knows how to party with the best of them. Our first week rocked! The place was jumpin' and everyone fed off of each other, the positive vibe that was running through Ziga Zaga was incredible! Man the time has flown! I guess it’s true what they say, time flies when you’re having fun. We’ve met some wonderful people here in Taipei and saw some terrific things. We’ll miss you guys and look forward to partying with you again soon. A big thank you to the amazing staff and management at the Grand Hyatt Taipei and especially the staff in Ziga Zaga where we made our home for the last 4 months. Thanks again Drexel for all your work with us, it was a pleasure and we hope to see you again soon. Till next time Taipei take care of yourselves, Earth Beat.
Dubai: Zinc, Crown Plaza Dubai (Nov 21 2004-March 11 2005)
Here were are standing in the Crowne Plaza hotel where so many people made us feel so welcome and happy to be here and nothing’s changed. Everyone is still amazing and extremely welcoming, we feel right at home. The only change is some of our hair is longer now and we can walk outside without sweating! We’ve been looking forward to returning to Zinc ever since we left. There’s just something about it, a certain chemistry it has that makes every person who enters feel like they’re the most important person in the world. We’re extremely pleased to be working with a lot of the same staff and management as the last time and also happy to have met the wonderful new staff here on the Crowne Plaza team. So far so good here at Zinc. We’ve been here just over a month now and it’s been a blast and looks like it will only get better. We’ll keep you posted as events unfold, thanks from Earth Beat! Well things are winding down in Dubai for us and we’d like to take this opportunity to thank some people and fill you in on what’s been happening. It’s been an interesting tour, as a band we are happy to have a new addition to the Earth Beat family, Jada, born January 14, 2005. Congratulations once again to proud parents, Charlene and Josh, all our love and support to you and your beautiful daughter.
We HAVE to thank Tim Burnell for taking over for Josh while Jada was being born. He had the daunting task of learning LOADS of new material and even though he lost some weight sweating it out he did an amazing job, thank you so much Tim it was a pleasure working with you and getting to know you. Over the last two times we’ve been here we’ve made so many wonderful friends and we just want you all to know how much your friendship has meant to us, we’ll miss you and we look forward to keeping in touch while we’re gone and hopefully seeing you again in the future. Of course we have to thank everyone here at the Crowne Plaza Dubai you’ve made our time here extremely enjoyable once again. We’ve been so lucky to have such a terrific staff to work with every night at Zinc and a wonderful management team to work alongside with, so a heartfelt thank you from us all. Sadly we have one last thing to report, this will be Keri’s last tour with the band. She’s been our sister, fellow performer and friend for just under two years now and she will be greatly missed. Thank you Keri for joining the ride and becoming such a huge part of our success as a band and as people. We wish you all the best in your future endeavors and hopefully every time you hear the phrase, “just when…” or “Y.C.A.G.F.Y” you’ll think of us because we know we’ll think of you. We love you, The Guys.
Spain: Spikes, Hyatt La Manga (June 8 2004-Oct 3 2004)
Sorry this write up is late we had some difficulty with our webpage for awhile and well since we WERE in Spain we couldn’t help but relax just a little. Once we arrived at the airport we were instantly greeted by Vincent, one of our new bosses. Having him pick us up with his always positive attitude really put a great taste in our mouths to start with. We arrived to see that the new Las Lomas II was up and running, complete with a world class gym, a fabulous pool and a tremendous Indian restaurant simply called India. It was great to catch up with old friends that we hadn’t seen in over a year and half and meet so many new ones. Sadly many of our new friends were on vacation so we had to say goodbye to people more than we would’ve liked. But having them share our music and the good times we had every night made for friendships that will hopefully continue for many years.
The scenery in Spain is spectacular in the summer, it’s great year round but there’s always something about summer anywhere in the world and this year we were lucky enough to be here. Some of the highlights were mountain hikes all over the area, watching the festival de Romanas parade, having family and friends visit and share bbq’s and other wild adventures, golfing, going to the beach and dining out on the La Manga strip. We’d like to once again congratulate Laurent and Marie, our long time friends on their engagement, you guys rock! We couldn’t be happier for you. We’d also like to thank everyone in the entire complex for their friendship and support from the wua wua drivers to the people at El Arbol, the staff at the gym and of course the entire staff and management team at the Hyatt Regency Hotel, especially our friends in Spikes, the Lorca bar and the India restaurant for all of their patience and help. We’ve had the pleasure of your company several times now and each time it gets harder to say goodbye so instead we’ll say gracias y asta luego amigos y amigas.
Vacation:
What’s that? What is this strange word? You mean we get some time off. GREAT! I’m gonna do this and this and this … WAIT! don’t get too excited it’s only a couple of days, but a couple of days off will feel like an eternity of rest after working 6 days a week for the last 6 months. So after our stay in Bangkok we had 5 days of rest and we used them to the fullest. Everyone in the band went to one of the several islands near Bangkok and took in the sun, beach and of course drinks with umbrellas on them. After several more photos, beach massages and pampering to the max we had to get geared up for our 4 month stay in Spain.
“We’re lost in Spain and no one knows where are we!!!!” A timeless phrase shouted out on a previous trip to Spain. Most of us have been to Spain before so we’re excited to go and see old friends and see how they’re doing. It’ll still be a new experience for everyone though as this time we’ll be there in the summer months and the previous two times were over the winter. Hasta pronto amigos y amigas!
Bangkok: Spasso, Grand Hyatt Erawan (March 1 2004-May 29 2004)
What a ride! Directly from Singapore we flew to Bangkok and the chaos began. New city, no sleep and we hadn't even made it to the hotel yet! Once we did…WOW! What a beautiful place. We set up and once the lights hit us that night everything else washed away. What a party we had! The entire night is now a blur of smiling faces, cheers and a sense of complete acceptance from the staff and patrons of Spasso and the rest of the Grand Hyatt Erawan Bangkok team.
That being said the time has flown by and we’ve found ourselves at the end of our stay here at Spasso. I guess it’s true what they say, “time flies when you’re having fun” While we’ve been here we’ve experienced a whole bunch of crazy, wild and wonderful things from Elephants on the streets, dining on grasshoppers, gigantic Buddha statues, Island paradises and several outdoor concerts to name just a few.
While here we were pleased to meet up with our good friend Simon who Dj’d with us in Dubai and were pleasantly surprised to have several friends from Singapore visit as well, It was great to see you Steve, Alex, Shirley and Johan. Sadly with every amazing place we travel to we have to say goodbye to the wonderful people that we’ve met and we only hope that we have the opportunity to visit them again. So to all of the staff and management at Spasso and the entire Grand Hyatt Erawan team we sincerely thank you for making us feel extremely welcome and part of your family for the duration of our stay. To the patrons of Spasso each and every night whether you were among the several regular clients or were just passing through, thank you for your friendship and generosity. We know that being in a band and traveling all over the world doing what we love is a dream job but playing is only half of the joy. The other half is the tremendous people we have fun with each and every night, so thank you once again for making our dreams come true. We’ll miss you all and we look forward to seeing you in the future.
Singapore: Brix, Grand Hyatt Singapore (Dec 15 2003-Feb 28 2004)
It's always nice to be home but when the snow starts falling and the temperature no longer is on the plus side then it's time to seek tropical paradise, which is what we found in Singapore. We played at Brix, which is in the Grand Hyatt Singapore, and were greeted with smiles and welcome arms right from the start.
Some highlights of our stay in Singapore were being treated to some wonderful Indian cuisine, midnight cravings soothed by Newton Circus, which was an all night outdoor food market, the several theme nights in the club and the costumes that EVERYONE wore, including the management team! The friendships we made with staff and patrons of the club and oh yes meeting the members of a little band called TOTO!!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks to everyone at the Grand Hyatt Singapore for making our time with you a great one, we look forward to seeing you all soon.
At home in Edmonton:
The band spent 6 weeks back in Canada visiting family and friends and getting some well-deserved rest after the all out party that happened in Dubai. However, so as not to get rusty we did a corporate gig alongside Canadian rocker Colin James in Calgary and then headed for Singapore.
Dubai: Zinc, Crowne Plaza Dubai (Aug 10 2003-Oct 24 2003)
We arrived in Dubai at 11pm welcomed by 39 degree heat…it was awesome! The city was beautiful. It was bustling like a big city should be yet was also close to the beach where you could spend hours simply relaxing, jet skiing and soaking up rays. We met so many wonderful people while there; the entire staff at Zinc and the Crowne Plaza were superb and so welcoming. We're happy to have remained in contact with many of you and we're looking forward to our return to continue the good times and good friendships.
Not only did we perform at the club 6 nights a week but the Crowne Plaza sponsored us to be part of an international battle of the bands while we were there. Thank you so much again for your support, it was overwhelming and we'll see you all very soon!
At home in Edmonton:
Besides enjoying the wonderful weather and visiting family and friends in Edmonton before heading overseas, we were busy performing and entertaining large audiences throughout the province. We most recently finished headlining the Molson Canadian Brewhouse tent at the Klondike Days Exhibition from July 17 – 26 where we played to 50,000 – 75,000 people easily throughout the ten-day event. To top that party, we headlined “The Death Race” in Grand Cache from July 31 – August 2, which was a blast! That was a great party. We had a wild time in the mountains and saw some of the most wonderful glaciers in the world.
